| حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، ” أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُطَوِّلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَيُقَصِّرُ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ ، وَيَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ ” . |

| ´ہم سے ابونعیم فضل بن دکین نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے ہشام دستوائی نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے یحییٰ بن ابی کثیر سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے عبداللہ بن ابی قتادہ سے، انہوں نے اپنے والد ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہ` نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ظہر کی پہلی رکعت میں (قرآت) طویل کرتے تھے اور دوسری رکعت میں مختصر۔ صبح کی نماز میں بھی آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اسی طرح کرتے تھے۔ |

| Narrated `Abdullah bin Abi Qatada: My father said, “The Prophet used to prolong the first rak`a of the Zuhr prayer and shorten the second one and used to do the same in the Fajr prayer.” |
