| حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : ” صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِهِ وَهُوَ شَاكٍ فَصَلَّى جَالِسًا وَصَلَّى وَرَاءَهُ قَوْمٌ قِيَامًا ، فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنِ اجْلِسُوا ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ : إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ ، فَإِذَا رَكَعَ فَارْكَعُوا وَإِذَا رَفَعَ فَارْفَعُوا ” . |

| ´ہم سے قتیبہ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، ان سے امام مالک رحمہ اللہ نے، ان سے ہشام بن عروہ نے، ان سے ان کے باپ عروہ نے، ان سے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہ` نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیمار تھے اس لیے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے گھر میں بیٹھ کر نماز پڑھائی، بعض لوگ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پیچھے کھڑے ہو کر پڑھنے لگے۔ لیکن آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں اشارہ کیا کہ بیٹھ جاؤ۔ نماز سے فارغ ہونے کے بعد آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ امام اس لیے ہے کہ اس کی پیروی کی جائے اس لیے جب وہ رکوع کرے تو تم بھی رکوع کرو اور جب وہ سر اٹھائے تو تم بھی سر اٹھاؤ۔ |

| Narrated `Aisha: Allah’s Apostle prayed in his house while sitting during his illness and the people prayed behind him standing and he pointed to them to sit down. When he had finished the prayer, he said, “The Imam is to be followed and so when he bows you should bow; and when he lifts his head you should also do the same.” |
