| حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : ” كُنْتُ أُسَلِّمُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَيَرُدُّ عَلَيَّ ، فَلَمَّا رَجَعْنَا سَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيَّ وَقَالَ : إِنَّ فِي الصَّلَاةِ لَشُغْلًا ” . |

| ´ہم سے عبداللہ بن ابی شیبہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے ابن فضیل نے بیان کیا، ان سے اعمش نے، ان سے ابراہیم نے، ان سے علقمہ نے اور ان سے عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ` (ابتداء اسلام میں) نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب نماز میں ہوتے تو میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو سلام کرتا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جواب دیتے تھے۔ مگر جب ہم (حبشہ سے جہاں ہجرت کی تھی) واپس آئے تو میں نے (پہلے کی طرح نماز میں) سلام کیا۔ مگر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کوئی جواب نہیں دیا (کیونکہ اب نماز میں بات چیت وغیرہ کی ممانعت نازل ہو گئی تھی) اور فرمایا کہ نماز میں اس سے مشغولیت ہوتی ہے۔ |

| Narrated `Abdullah: I used to greet the Prophet while he was in prayer and he would return my greeting, but when we returned (from Ethiopia) I greeted the Prophet (while he was praying) but he did not return the greeting, and (after finishing the prayer) he said, “In the prayer one is occupied (with a more serious matter).” |
