| حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : ” لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي تَرُدُّهُ الْأُكْلَةَ وَالْأُكْلَتَانِ ، وَلَكِنْ الْمِسْكِينُ الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ غِنًى وَيَسْتَحْيِي أَوْ لَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا ” . |

| ´ہم سے حجاج بن منہال نے بیان کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے شعبہ نے بیان کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ مجھے محمد بن زیاد نے خبر دی انہوں نے کہا کہ` میں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا مسکین وہ نہیں جسے ایک دو لقمے در در پھرائیں۔ مسکین تو وہ ہے جس کے پاس مال نہیں۔ لیکن اسے سوال سے شرم آتی ہے اور وہ لوگوں سے چمٹ کر نہیں مانگتا (مسکین وہ جو کمائے مگر بقدر ضرورت نہ پا سکے)۔ |

| Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “The poor person is not the one who asks a morsel or two (of meals) from the others, but the poor is the one who has nothing and is ashamed to beg from others.” |
