| حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : ” مَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَحَرَّى صِيَامَ يَوْمٍ فَضَّلَهُ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ ، إِلَّا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ ، وَهَذَا الشَّهْرَ يَعْنِي شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ ” . |

| ´ہم سے عبیداللہ بن موسیٰ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے سفیان بن عیینہ نے، ان سے عبیداللہ بن ابی یزید نے، اور ان سے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ` میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو سوا عاشوراء کے دن کے اور اس رمضان کے مہینے کے اور کسی دن کو دوسرے دنوں سے افضل جان کر خاص طور سے قصد کر کے روزہ رکھتے نہیں دیکھا۔ |

| Narrated Ibn `Abbas: I never saw the Prophet seeking to fast on a day more (preferable to him) than this day, the day of ‘Ashura’, or this month, i.e. the month of Ramadan. |
