| حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مَالِكًا يَسْأَلُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَسْلَمَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يَقُولُ ، قَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : حَمَلْتُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُبَاعُ ، فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : ” لَا تَشْتَرِهِ ، وَلَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ ” . |

| ´ہم سے حمیدی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو سفیان نے خبر دی، کہا کہ میں نے مالک سے سنا، انہوں نے زید بن اسلم سے پوچھا تھا تو انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ` میں نے اپنے باپ سے سنا وہ بیان کرتے تھے کہ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا میں نے ایک گھوڑا اللہ کے راستے میں جہاد کے لیے ایک شخص کو دے دیا تھا، پھر میں نے دیکھا کہ وہ اسے بیچ رہا ہے۔ اس لیے میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا کہ اسے واپس میں ہی خرید لوں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”اس گھوڑے کو نہ خرید۔ اپنا دیا ہوا صدقہ واپس نہ لو۔“ |

| Narrated `Umar bin Al-Khattab: Once I gave a horse (for riding) in Allah’s Cause. Later I saw it being sold. I asked Allah’s Apostle (whether I could buy it). He said, “Don’t buy it, for you should not get back what you have given in charity.” |
