| حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ حَنْظَلَةَ الزُّرَقِيَّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَافِعَ بْنَ خَدِيجٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : ” كُنَّا أَكْثَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ حَقْلًا فَكُنَّا نُكْرِي الْأَرْضَ ، فَرُبَّمَا أَخْرَجَتْ هَذِهِ وَلَمْ تُخْرِجْ ذِهِ ، فَنُهِينَا عَنْ ذَلِكَ وَلَمْ نُنْهَ عَنِ الْوَرِقِ ” . |

| ´ہم سے مالک بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ابن عیینہ نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یحییٰ بن سعید نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ میں نے حنظلہ زرقی سے سنا، انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے رافع بن خدیج رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، آپ بیان کرتے تھے کہ` ہم اکثر انصار کاشتکاری کیا کرتے تھے اور ہم زمین بٹائی پر دیتے تھے۔ اکثر ایسا ہوتا کہ کسی کھیت کے ایک ٹکڑے میں پیداوار ہوتی اور دوسرے میں نہ ہوتی، اس لیے ہمیں اس سے منع کر دیا گیا۔ لیکن چاندی (روپے وغیرہ) کے لگان سے منع نہیں کیا گیا۔ |
| English Translation |

| Narrated Rafi` bin Khadij: We used to work on the fields more than the other Ansar, and we used to rent the land (for the yield of a specific portion of it). But sometimes that portion or the rest of the land did not give any yield, so we were forbidden (by the Prophet ) to follow such a system, but we were allowed to rent the land for money. |
