| حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ ، قَالَ : ذَكَرُوا عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا كَانَ وَصِيًّا ، فَقَالَتْ ” مَتَى أَوْصَى إِلَيْهِ وَقَدْ كُنْتُ مُسْنِدَتَهُ إِلَى صَدْرِي ، أَوْ قَالَتْ : حَجْرِي ، فَدَعَا بِالطَّسْتِ ، فَلَقَدِ انْخَنَثَ فِي حَجْرِي فَمَا شَعَرْتُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ مَاتَ ، فَمَتَى أَوْصَى إِلَيْهِ ” . |

| ´ہم سے عمرو بن زرارہ نے بیان کیا ‘ کہ ہم کو اسماعیل بن علیہ نے خبر دی عبداللہ بن عون سے ‘ انہیں ابراہیم نخعی نے ‘ ان سے اسود بن یزید نے بیان کیا کہ` عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے یہاں کچھ لوگوں نے ذکر کیا کہ علی رضی اللہ عنہ (نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے) وصی تھے تو آپ نے کہا کہ کب انہیں وصی بنایا۔ میں تو آپ کے وصال کے وقت سر مبارک اپنے سینے پر یا انہوں نے (بجائے سینے کے) کہا کہ اپنے گود میں رکھے ہوئے تھی پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے (پانی کا) طشت منگوایا تھا کہ اتنے میں (سر مبارک) میری گود میں جھک گیا اور میں سمجھ نہ سکی کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی وفات ہو چکی ہے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے علی رضی اللہ عنہ کو وصی کب بنایا۔ |

| Narrated Al-Aswad: In the presence of `Aisha some people mentioned that the Prophet had appointed `Ali by will as his successor. `Aisha said, “When did he appoint him by will? Verily when he died he was resting against my chest (or said: in my lap) and he asked for a wash-basin and then collapsed while in that state, and I could not even perceive that he had died, so when did he appoint him by will?” |
