| حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، ” أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ فِي الْأُولَيَيْنِ بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَتَيْنِ ، وَفِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ بِأُمِّ الْكِتَابِ وَيُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ وَيُطَوِّلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى مَا لَا يُطَوِّلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ ، وَهَكَذَا فِي الْعَصْرِ ، وَهَكَذَا فِي الصُّبْحِ ” . |

| ´ہم سے موسیٰ بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے ہمام بن یحییٰ نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے یحییٰ بن ابی کثیر کے واسطے سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے عبداللہ بن ابی قتادہ سے، انہوں نے اپنے باپ ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہ` نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ظہر کی دو پہلی رکعتوں میں سورۃ فاتحہ اور دو سورتیں پڑھتے تھے اور آخری دو رکعات میں صرف سورۃ فاتحہ پڑھتے۔ کبھی کبھی ہمیں ایک آیت سنا بھی دیا کرتے تھے اور پہلی رکعت میں قرآت دوسری رکعت سے زیادہ کرتے تھے۔ عصر اور صبح کی نماز میں بھی آپ کا یہی معمول تھا۔ |

| Narrated `Abdullah bin Abi Qatada: My father said, “The Prophet uses to recite Al-Fatiha followed by another Sura in the first two rak`at of the prayer and used to recite only Al-Fatiha in the last two rak`at of the Zuhr prayer. Sometimes a verse or so was audible and he used to prolong the first rak`a more than the second and used to do the same in the `Asr and Fajr prayers.” |
